Cannabichromevarinic acid (CBCVA) is one of the acids uniquely produced by the Cannabis plant. A type of Cannabis that contains several chemical compounds that offer different characteristics of the cannabis plant is marijuana. Marijuana is the name given to Cannabis products made from leaves, dried flowers, stem and seeds of Cannabis plants.
Cannabinoids are actually one of the most influential chemicals in marijuana which is a major component of the cannabichromevarinic acid. There is an endocannabinoids from the human body which interacts with the phytocannabinoids from the Cannabis plant to cause various physiological effects on the human organism.
Over a hundred and ten cannabinoids exist with cannabichromevarinic acid as one powerful compound in the cannabinoid family including CBD, THC, CBC and CBG. CBD and its relevant compounds like Cannabichromevarinic Acid are not intoxicating. In fact, it has been postulated that CBD and its compound present in the cannabis plant may eliminate a few of the potentially unwanted THC side effects.
CBCV was first identified at the University of Nagasaki in 1975 from marijuana from Thailand after which it was reported in the scientific literature in the year 1980. CBCV is not thought to be psychoactive or impairing in any way, and is believed to be safe for children and adults and is a compound found in medical marijuana.

Natural CBC-C5 is thought to be racemic, and although the CBC acids, cannabichromenic acid and cannabichromevarinic acid, were reported to have optical activities of +4.8 and 4.8- in chloroform, respectively. It was also proven that both acids are the A acids on the basis of IR data and comparison with synthetic samples .
Cannabinoids generally have a trait of being almost insoluble in water but are soluble in alcohol, lipids, and a range of other non-polar organic solvents.
Very little is known of the toxicology and pharmacology of Cannabichromevarinic acid as a class of cannabinoids. However, considering the similarity in the molecular structure of the various Cannabinoids, they can be assumed to have the same effect on the human body.
Since the Cannabichromevarinic Acid is one of the major compounds in cannabinoid, it reacts with a body of nerves in the human body thereby enhancing the daily functionality of the hormones resulting in correct appetite, sleep patterns, mood, and movement.
Beyond this, it also serve as;
1. It can be used as a pharmacological agent in the treatment of epileptic seizures, bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder.
2. Cannabichromevarinic Acid remedies pain by reducing inflammation/swelling.
3. Cannabichromevarinic serves as an anti-oxidant. It is capable of protecting the body cells against free radicals, which may play a role in heart disease, cancer and other diseases.
4. It can be used to manage psychosis as either an anti-psychotic or as neuroleptics.
5. Cannabichromevarinic acid can be used as an immunomodulator to help regulate or normalize the immune system.
6. As a cannabinoid, it can act as a neuroprotective agent in reducing signs of oxidative stress.
Cannabichromevarinic acid’s association with CBD makes it safer as it does not cause hallucination and it has no psychotropic properties.
